After placing an order, we will contact you to obtain the list of Servers to assess and the following accesses:
• VPN (if applicable or required to reach your internal network)
• SSH or RDP to the asset(s) to assess or remedy (User must have Administrative Privileges)
• Out-Of-Bound (IPMI / IDRAC / Console) access to the asset(s) (some malware removal operations requires a single-mode / recovery-mode runlevel, which means the server must be brought offline and run without network access), we will get in touch if such access is required, if access has not been given, and we will also request a maintenance window upon which we can perform our operations.
If additional information or accesses are needed, we will contact you.
Due to the nature of some malware, and their level of persistence, we cannot always guarantee their complete eradication, thus, malware removals are performed on a best-effort level, with our greatest attention and care. If we are unable to remove part of the malware, or the malware returns, it means that the malicious scripts have deployed a permanent foothold into your environment. Usually if the same malware returns, it usually means the original security flaw they exploited to compromise the system remains. If this happens, we will propose that you either fix the security flaw (which we will attempt to track down the procedure and guide you how), restore the server from clean snapshots or backups, or reinstall the machine.
Due to the nature of some malware, and their level of deployment into a system, infected servers may be subject to a level of data loss from data corruption that may be incurred from the malware infection. Malware removal attempts may also cause this behavior.
In all cases, we will not be responsible for any data loss or data corruption. You are responsible to have functional backups of your environment at all times.
